Want to feel amazing at your workplace? Here are some tips!
|You don’t have to spend your working day being stressed and feeling sick. Commit yourself to improving your workplace wellness. Whether you live to work or work to live, you still spend lots of waking hours at work, so make it as wonderful as it can be. We offer you some tips how you can make your workplace a desired daily destination.
Stand up!
We sit too much, that’s awful for our health. If you have a sedentary job, consider a standing desk or a desk that can be transformed from standing to sitting. You can negotiate the coverage of the cost for the desk with your employer. Move at work; take the stairs, not the elevator; go for walking meetings with colleagues; do some office exercise during the day and talk to your colleagues in person instead of sending them e-mails.
Keep your work-life balance
You must create limits between your personal life and your work. That does not necessarily mean that you don’t love your job, instead, it means you dedicate time to refresh yourself, to relax and to spend time with the loved ones. In order to make a balance between your job and your life, there are some simple things you can do like keeping a log of the hours that you work outside the office and setting hard limits for responding to e-mails when outside the office, discovering what gives you energy, knowing when to ask for some help and learning to prioritize and delegate.
Dedicate time for mindfulness
Mindfulness can, in fact, help you in reducing stress, focusing and learning to be more present and productive, although you think that practices such as meditation and deep breathing is contradictory with the fast-paced world of deadlines, meetings and conferences.
Rethink your surroundings
Believe it or not, your office building may be the cause for your headache, sore throat, fatigue and concentration problems. Read up on Sick Building Syndrome and make sure your office building is safe.
Practice conflict resolution
You spend more time with you colleagues than your close ones, so it is very important to have strong relationships with them as well. Conflict resolution is not something exclusive for couples or members of the family, so learn about ways to express emotion, detox relationships and deal with conflicts.
